Each windowsill is made from a solid piece of Scottish hardwood, giving you somewhere beautiful to watch the world go by. Windows are places in the house where temperature and humidity can change a lot, so we try to dry out and stabilise our windowsills for as long as possible. We also resort to the humble screw to secure them to the wall. We do however cover this with a matching plug of wood!
We will pass the timber through the planer thicknesser and then wait a while to see if it moves before we repeat the process. Then sanding and hand scraping will bring out the final finished surface ready for oiling.
